My name is Memphis Kaotsane and I am from a small rural area in the North West province called Taung: the donkey capital of the country. I was the runner up in the North West innovation competition in partnership with the office of the premier, NWDC and the North West University. As we all know that innovation is born out of necessity hence we came up with this amazing product called called Moonshine. Moonshine is a reflective paint in a tube, which you apply to stray animals to make them visible at night.
We sell reflective paints for animals in a spray can, with enough paint for one application. It comes in form of a spray paint. The objective is to reduce or avoid accidents caused by stray animals next to the roads, especially at night, by causing treated animals to reflect in the headlights of an approaching vehicle.
According to statistics about 30% of car accidents especially in rural areas are caused by stray cows and donkeys. Our mission is to save both animal life as well as human lives. Cars often sustain significant damage during these kinds of accidents.
This is how Moonshine works:
Shake thoroughly before usage and spray animal at bog sides of the fur and at the back so that the motorists will be able to appt the animal from all different angles. Add:Never use on exposed wounds and eyes of animal.
Mr Morebodi Kaotsane is the sole shareholder in the business, making it 100% black owned. He is a black youth from the Taung area in the North West Province.
Moonshine (PTY) LTD is a start-up business: we have a small balance sheet and big dreams. We’re more or less virtual at the moment, with the bulk of the development work and technical assistance handled by Innovation Highway, an incubator of North West University.
